DISTANCES to screen at the 7th LOS ANGELES GREEK FILM FESTIVAL
Distances will be playing on Friday, June 7 at 5pm at the WGA theatre (135 S. Doheny Drive, Beverly Hills) before the feature film FYNBOS.

LIGNITE WINS BEST PITCHING AWARD AT SOFIA MEETINGS
As part of the 10th Sofia Meetings in the 17th Sofia Int'l Film Festival Lignite was awarded the Best Pitching Award in the "Plus Minus One" program.

Lignite, still at script stage, will be presented at the 10th Sofia Meetings of the 17th Sofia International Film Festival.
Distances and Sundown will play on 16/03 and 18/03 as part of the Festival Shorts 4 program.

Day 5: Shortening Distances
It was the best film of the fifth day of the festival in Drama. "Distances" by Gregory Rentis was blessed with wonderful performances by Yiannis Stankoglou and the young Alexis Danezis, who delivered a recital of tenderness and revealed the sweet, rounded sides of the stiff relationship between a father and a son. Rentis makes a full-rounded film that takes off during the moment of the hug in the bedroom. Stankoglou lies down on his arm, next to his son, while the latter pets his hair and hugs his head. I confess I broke down at that moment, I cried. The most tender scene I have seen this year in Drama.
The story speaks of the...distances in the relationship between a father and his son. The gap must be bridged.

Ημέρα 5η: Μείωσε τις αποστάσεις
Ήταν η καλύτερη ταινία της πέμπτης ημέρας του Φεστιβάλ Δράμας. Οι “Αποστάσεις” (trailer) του Γρηγόρη Ρέντη ευτύχησαν να έχουν τις υπέροχες ερμηνείες του Γιάννη Στάνκογλου και του μικρού Αλέξη Δανέζη, οι οποίοι έδωσαν ρεσιτάλ τρυφερότητας και αποκάλυψαν τις γλυκές, στρογγυλεμένες πλευρές της δύσκαμπτης σχέσης πατέρα-γιου.
Ο Ρέντης κάνει μια ολοκληρωμένη ταινία που απογειώνεται τη στιγμή της αγκαλιάς στο κρεβάτι. Ο Στάνκογλου ξαπλώνει στο χέρι του, δίπλα στο γιο του και εκείνος του χαϊδεύει τα μαλλιά και του αγκαλιάζει το κεφάλι. Το ομολογώ ότι έσπασα εκείνη τη στιγμή, δάκρυσα. Η πιο τρυφερή σκηνή που έχω δει φέτος στη Δράμα.
Η ιστορία μιλάει για τις… αποστάσεις στη σχέση ενός πατέρα με τον γιο του. Το χάσμα πρέπει να γεφυρωθεί.
